N/R: NURSE TRAINEES BARE TEETH AT GOVERNMENT

The 2016 batch of degree nurses are up in arms against the government over what they describe as a deliberate act of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to financially clear them for immediate employment.

Speaking to Micheal Agbashie, on Bishara radio’s flagship programme “Sunrise on Bishara”, Mr Benjamin Effah says government has deliberately refused to clear public degree nurses.

Mr. Effah is the immediate past president of the Nursing Students Association branch of the University for Development Studies (UDS) and also a member of the Coalition of unemployed public degree nurses.

According to him, there are only 393 trained degree nurses and he believe it will not be a headache for the government to clear them.

He stated that, they have met with the regulatory body and the Ministry on several occasion with the promise that they will be cleared in no time, but these promises are yet to be fulfilled.

“…for the past 2 years we have always been engaging with the Ministry of Health and the Nursing Regulatory body and they have been frequent assurance that posting and clearance will be done in no time” he said.

Mr. Effah further expressed his disappointment over why colleague with certificate and diploma have been cleared whiles those with degree in nursing are still not cleared.

Mr. Effah also hinted that the coalition is planning on staging a nationwide demonstration to register their grievances.
