Twelve (12) personalities who will contest for the ultimate crown of the Face of Northern Ghana ( 2018) were unveiled during a durbar held on Saturday, October 6 at the Dakpema Palace in the Northern Regional capital Tamale.
The maiden edition of the show, organised by Vasatile Modelling Agency, saw twelve (12) contestants, 6 ladies, 6 men dressed in beautiful culture dresses parade to the venue amidst drumming and dancing.
According to the contestants, they are aware of the task ahead and the expectations of their respective region.
Speaking at the event, representative of Marie Stopes, praised the rich culture of the north. He therefore tasked the contestants to do a good job in showcasing the region to the rest of nation and the world.
“I am not perturbed by the unique features of the other regions. In fact, I am motivated by the challenge ahead of you and I know you will do your best to promote Northern region, the nation and then win the ultimate prize” he said.
Organisers of the event, Versatile Modelling Agency, lead by Harrison Damurri and Ayelazaya Rinner disclosed that, “Face of Northern Ghana” has come to offer the opportunity for contestants to take viewers on a journey of discovering the hidden tourist attractions in their areas, Culture and other unique features about the three Northern regions.
In a brief speech, the Chairman at the ceremony, Deema Naa Hafiz, said the “Face of Northern Ghana” stands to promote the rich culture and tradition of Northern Ghana.
He urged traditional rulers to lend their support to ensure the success of this laudable move by the organisers and urged the contestants to be good ambassadors of the region.
The colourful ceremony witnessed a large crowd from the Tamale Metropolis and other districts who have come to support their favourite contestants.
