The Assembly Member for Bincheratanga Electoral Area in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region, Sibdow Njonaam Benjamin Justice, has called on all Ghanaians to vote ‘yes’ for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) on December 17, 2019 referendum.

Mr Sibdow Njonaam said electing MMDCEs should not base on partisanship but rather to promote democracy at the local government level.

Mr Njonaam, however, maintained that MMDCEs will work effectively when citizens vote yes for the election of MMDCEs to maintain their position in 2021.

He strongly believes that MMDCEs will be held accountable and they will be committed to developing their respective areas irrespective of their political affiliation when elected by the Ghanaian electorates.

”… I am an Assemblyman and I know what MMDCEs do at the local government level.

They are very pivotal when it comes to development at the local level. They are in charge of every development activity at the local level” he revealed.

The amendment of Article 53 (3) of the 1992 Constitution to elect our Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), according to him will be a game-changer for Ghana’s democracy, indicating that Ghana will chart a new path in deepening it’s democratic credentials at the same time, speed its development and progress at the local level.

He believes the amendment of Article 53 ( 3 ) of the 1992 Constitution will lead to even distribution of national resources to every part of the country.
